Aegean Turkey Tour – 7 Days

DAY 1 Flight to Istanbul

Arrival at Istanbul Ataturk Airport. Meet by PAKERO TRAVEL representative and transfer to the hotel. Welcome meeting, dinner and overnight at the hotel at Taksim Square, the center of new town. (D)

DAY 2 Full Day Istanbul City Tour

Tour of “Sultan Ahmet Center”, the heart of the “Old City” from where the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires were ruled.
Start to walking tour in Hippodrome, the center of sportive (chariot races, athletics) events and political activities of the city in Roman and Byzantium periods. See the Obelisk of Theodosius, Serpentine Column and German Fountain of Wilhelm II. Walk to Blue Mosque, facing St. Sophia, famous with its blue Iznik tiles and unique with 6 minarets, built in the name of Sultan Ahmet 1609-1616.
Visit St. Sophia, One of the greatest marvels of architecture, constructed as basilica in the 6th.century AD. by Emperor Justinian. Lunch in a local restaurant. Walk to Topkapi Palace, beautifully decorated gardens and impressive building complex used to be imperial residence of Ottoman Sultans exhibiting imperial treasury, Chinese porcelain, weapons, calligraphy, holy relics section today. Stroll through Grand Bazaar, the authentic experience in a competitive souk.
Dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight in Istanbul. (B, L, D)

Day 3 Istanbul – Cannakkale, Gallipoli, Troy

After breakfast, we will begin our scenic drive along the Sea of Marmara down to Gallipoli, historically famous for being the site of a major battle lasted over a year during WWI. Following a lunch break, we will cross the second strategic waterway, the Dardanelles, and land in Asia and proceed to Troy. Referred to in Homer’s “Iliad” and “Odyssey”, Troy has in fact nine cities superimposed one upon another. Troy VI pertains to the famous Trojan War of Homer where the legendary heroes included Agamemnon, Achilles, Ulysses, and Nestor on the Greek side and Priamos, Hector, and Paris on the Trojan side. We will check-in to our hotel in Canakkale .
Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi (B, D)

Day 4 Canakkale – Pergamon – Kusadası

Depart for Kusadası, enroute we will stop in Bergama town for visit to Pergamon ancient city, see the Acropolis, the Temple of Trajan and the theater both overlooking to the plain of Bergama with a picture break for one of the Seven Churches of Revelation. Visit a local handicraft center to see the demonstration on the process of making handmade Turkish carpets and the most beautiful and rich collection. Time will be allocated for shopping. Lunch in a local restaurant. Then finally Ancient Medical Center, Asclepion will be visited before driving to Kusadasi.
Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi. (B, L, D)

Day 5 Kusadası – Ephesus

Following the breakfast we drive to Selcuk to visit the House of Virgin Mary on top of Mt. Coressos. Then our memorable visit to Ephesus, once the commercial center of the ancient world, is a highlight of any visit to Turkey will begin as well as viewing one of the Seven Churches of Revelation. The ruins also include the largest ancient theater, gymnasium, agora and baths, as well as the library of Celsius the Temple of Artemis (One of the Seven Wonders of Antiquity). Lunch break in a local restaurant. Visit the Basilica of St. John, what remained from the largest church of the area dating back to 6th century AD.
Dinner and overnight in Kusadası. (B, D)

Day 6 Kusadası – Priene – Didyma

We drive to famous local production center for leather garments whereby after a live Fashion Show, time will be allocated for shopping. Drive to Priene, the ancient Greek city which had the least Roman touch, beautifully laid out on a hill side according to Hippodomus city planning, stop for lunch in a local restaurant. Visit Didyma, the center of Apollo Prophesy in Asia Minor, the largest remain of an ancient temple Turkey. Dinner and overnight in Kusadası. (B, D)

Day 7 Flight to Home

Transfer to Izmir airport. Flight back to Scandinavia via Istanbul.
